Description from Bird Fleming: "As the story goes.....all the major clubs of the Harlem Renaissance were hot beds of African America music and dance....obvious rhythm and dance movements....but these clubs, being segregated were attended by white patrons only (except for big prize fighter, pimps, gangsters and  hustlers (blacks with $).

"On their way to work the black help (cooks, bartender, waitresses and musicians complain about the situation as the walk around the back of the club to the 'Colored Only ' entrance....during which time young Katherine Dunham wants to go in with her aunt (one of the help) to watch the show....telling her no she can not , Katherine manages to sneak in later and becomes (noticeable till the end)

"Upon setting up the club for business the help can't wait till the white guests leave to close the club down they can have the own dance jam session!"
